Smoothies
Smoothies are a great way to pack a lot of nutritional value into one delicious cup. You can whip them up for a quick on the go breakfast or for an afternoon snack. You can even turn the leftovers into refreshing ice pops! I always start with a base of Greek yogurt for extra protein, add in some banana for creaminess, any frozen fruit (using frozen fruit makes your smoothie nice and frothy) and then some fresh watermelon or milk to help liquify everything. Sometimes I’ll even add in a handful of spinach or kale or (if you have a powerful blender) a few fresh carrots for extra vitamins. The kids love to eat them AND make them…so I decided to bring my blender to my Little Foodies this week so everyone could whip of a fun treat.
I brought in a bunch of bananas, cubed watermelon, frozen mixed berries, frozen peaches, Greek yogurt, skim milk and some very colorful straws! I let each Little Foodie cut up their own bananas (with small plastic knives!), choose what they wanted in their smoothie and help mix them up. They were enjoyed by all!
Smoothies
1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt
1/2 banana
1/2 cup frozen fruit (peaches, berries, mango, etc)
1-2 cubes of watermelon
1/2 cup skim milk
Feel free to throw in a handful of spinach, kale, carrots, etc!
Throw everything into a blender and whip until smooth! (If you don’t have any watermelon, you may need to add a bit of water).
